Telus - SEAN N

Original

Edited

Name And Description
The ad I chose to spoof or parody was an ad for the Telus mobile network company. This advertisement featured two monkeys on top of a wrapped gift with the caption being “The Gift of Gab”. The advertisement is simplistic in nature and has a very cute, and loveable holiday feel with regards to the environment the advertisement was trying to pursue. I kept in this fashion but instead I added a realistic rendition of how mobile phone companies ( or any company for that matter ) is an advent capitalist.
Goal of Parody
My goal of creating a parody of this ad was to create the sense that capitalism is very dominate in our society in every possible consumer item. I added a faded background of money falling. This was to show the money that is very much present in our society as a symbol of power and desire. The caption of the original ad was “The Gift Of Gab”, I kept this line but I also added another line “Money Talks, So Talk More”. With the reference of talking more to regards to the mobile cellphone companies attempt to lure in more consumers and users then it presently has. The first half of the caption is to symbolize that society only listens to those with money, and that money is the indicating factor of class.
Original To Finished
I found the advertisement at home and scanned the image itself. Once this was done I cropped the image and made sure that the right size was enabled. I did not so much as to alter the image in its original form and integrity, however I added things onto the image.

I created a background and found an image of money raining down on Google. I cut out the raining money and I did my best attempt to put it at a lower opacity in the background. I copied this and rotated it in various directions
