BYRON- Lays Light
original
spoof ad
Questions
Name of Original Ad
The original ad is from the famous chips company know as Lays, and I acquired this ad from a regular magazine. This ad is intended to advertise there new product and as there slogan says “All the taste, half the calories” promote there new feature to their product.
Rationale
As I flipped through the pages of the magazine this ad caught my attention instantly as it clearly states that this chips is good for your health and also enjoyable at the same time seem a bit absurd to me. These are the kind of ads that indirectly captures and lures us into the “fatty” zone, considering the amount in North America; they seem to be effective and successful. So, I felt like altering this concept and I think this is a effective way of doing it.
What I added
I thought that it would be humorous to change the slogan to “half the taste, all the calories” to show that not only are chips always unhealthy, but also to show that fat free chips taste worse then normal chips. I wanted to change this slogan because I wanted people to notice that taste is an opinion, not a fact. I also changed the bag to be called Lays FAT, to symbolize that chips are bad for you.
The images I used
I did not use any images other then distorting the ad to look the way I wanted it to. The slogan “FAT” is made by the “fat free” tag at the bottom of “original”.
What I would do differently next time
Next time I would of learned how to use the tools in photoshop better because I did not get the desired effect with the “FAT” logo, I wanted to make it seem as bouncy and as alive as the old “light” logo. Other then that I think that I did a really good job in spoofing this lays advertisement.
